CERTASS, A UKAS ACCREDITED CERTIFICATION BODY, GOVERNMENT AUTHORISED SINCE 2006.
UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) is a Government approved body which is internationally recognised to accredit Certification Bodies. It accredits a Certification Body against an internationally recognised standard. Certass is accredited to operate product certification schemes against the standard BS EN17065.
Our UKAS accreditation matters! It places a duty upon us to certify our members impartially against agreed standards. It requires that our certification provides confidence to all interested parties including consumers, Governments and industry.
It is very different from the find a contractor schemes advertised on TV. These schemes are basically lead generation businesses that sell your information to contractors to be able to contact you to quote for work. Contractors can pay hundreds, if not thousands, of pounds per year to be a member of these schemes. As you will be able to determine there is a large potential conflict for these types of schemes.
Look for a UKAS accredited certification body to ensure they act impartiality to recognised standards. We are independently checked by UKAS on an on-going basis.
Certass currently operates three separate Government authorised certification schemes for Installers within the building refurbishment industry.
These certification schemes operate under Government license or Government sub-license.
Within the building refurbishment market the two key areas that our licensed schemes fall into for the operation of a Competent Person Scheme are Glazing and Insulation, other trades are covered under our Green Deal and TrustMark licenses.
Details of the scheme scopes for Installers can be found on our Home Page. Certass also runs a number of other certification schemes licensed directly by Certass.
Take a look at our short information video to see why you should choose a Certass Government authorised Competent Person scheme member.
CERTIFIED WORKMANSHIP TO INDUSTRY STANDARDS
KEY BENEFITS >
Real Certification improving consumer protection
This Certass Certification Scheme has a robust framework to ensure your business reputation is protected. We check workmanship on-site against appropriate industry Codes of Practice for workmanship standards. This scheme includes:
- an initial company assessment
- assessment of site supervisors
- sample of on-going installations
As part of the membership requirements for the CQ-Assured (Certass quality assured) Certification Scheme, scheme members are required to abide by our consumer code.
The consumer code demonstrates the business is dedicated to delivering a fair and quality service.
Each installation lodged with the scheme will be issued with a Certificate of Conformity and a 2-year insurance backed workmanship warranty, protecting your customer in the event you are unable to meet your workmanship guarantee obligations.
Every contractor, no matter how good, at some point may have a dispute they just cannot resolve. Certass offer a low cost alternative to court proceedings with our Alternate Dispute Resolution service.
The CQ-Assured scheme is not a Building Regulation notification scheme. Where Building Regulation notification is required it must be done via either Local Authority, Approved Inspector or Competent Person Scheme as appropriate.
Your feedback is important and we would appreciate it if you would complete this short survey.
Results of the survey are confidential and feedback is passed to the contractor without personal information. Both Certass and the contractors use the results of this survey to improve both their performance and customer service.
