The National Home Improvement Council (NHIC) has been established for more than 30 years and its mission is to encourage a vibrant modernisation and renovation market in the private and social housing sectors both to improve the housing stock and the business opportunities for members. In order to achieve this, NHIC maintains close links with all relevant government departments concerning housing and development, the environment and trade and industry.

Many of the most important companies and organisations operating in the home improvement sector are members of the NHIC. Every year, the NHIC recognises the very best initiatives and achievements in the field of housing renovation and local rehabilitation through its annual awards. Certass is delighted that its members have won several awards in the "Excellence in Glazing" category.

Certass' Thermal Rating Register was set up in response to the introduction of Window Energy Ratings (WER) as part of the current building regulations. This system uses a simple colour coded A-G rating, similar to that used on white goods like refrigerators and washing machines. Generally speaking, the higher the rating, "A" being the highest, the better the overall thermal performance of replacement windows and therefore, the greater the savings on fuel bills.

Certass' Thermal Rating Register is widely accepted as one of the leading WER schemes in the industry and is supported by industry leading manufacturers such aswith Pilkington's, AGC and Guardian who all promote this scheme to their clients.

trustmark logo
